HVAC Maintenance Tips for Spring

Even though it doesn’t feel like it just yet here in South Jersey, Spring is definately in the air…. and speaking of air, is your HVAC System ready for Summer? It may seem like it’s far away now, but to get your HVAC ready for the sweltering Summer heat, the Spring season is the best time to make sure you’re heating and cooling system is running efficiently.

To avoid emergency repairs, improve air quality, and to keep the inside of your home comfortable we recommend these three steps…

1. Clear debris and maintain landscape around unit.
This past Winter, you probably weren’t spending a whole lot of time outside. It’s much different than those beach days here at the shore. However, during the Fall and Winter, trash, yard waste, and other debris can accumulate around your HVAC equipment. Also this Spring, once your plants start growing in, be sure to periodically check them for overgrowth. There should be about 2 feet of clear space on each side.

2. Change your air filter
This is not specific to just Spring. One of the most common HVAC myths is that an air filter should only be changed once a year, and that’s not true. Dirt, dust, and if you live in a shore town like Sea Isle City or Margate City, sand can clog your filter. It’s important to change your air filter at least once a month. Clogged filters can make your air conditioner work harder than it has to and can cost you more money to keep it running.

3. Schedule a preventative maintenance check
This is imperative to having a healthy, running HVAC System. There are so many reasons why a maintenance check is so important. It will help reduce your energy bill, improve your indoor air quality, and not to mention help the environment. Our team will make sure your system is running properly by inspecting the cooling coil, lubricating all moving parts check operating pressures for proper refrigerant charge, and much more.
